STEBBINS -- A 72-year-old Stebbins man was killed Wednesday when a teenage girl
struck him with her four-wheeler, Alaska State Troopers said.
The collision occurred around 10:50 p.m. in Stebbins, a coastal village of 600 people
on St. Michael Island in Norton Sound.
Troopers say Leo Johnson was walking home on Caribou Street when he was struck by
a four-wheeler driven by a 17-year-old Stebbins girl.
The girl had one passenger on the front of the four-wheeler and two on the back,
troopers said. She told authorities she did not see Johnson in her path. Alcohol
or drugs are not suspected in the crash, troopers said.
